+The [[Wondrous Adornments of the Rulers of the Worlds]]
 +
 +[[Avatamsaka Sutra Chapter One]]
 +
+[[Translate]]d in the [[Tang Dynasty]] by the [[Tripitaka Master]] [[Shramana]] [[Shikshananda]] of [[Khotan]].
 +
 +[[Sutra]]:
 +
 +[[Thus I have heard]].
 +
+At one [[time]], the [[Buddha]] was in the [[country]] of [[Magadha]]. [The [[Buddha]] was]...at the [[Bodhi Field]] of [[Aranya]]-[[Dharma]], upon initially [[realizing]] [[Proper Enlightenment]]. The [[Ground]] was [[adamantine]], firm, and solid, [[adorned]] with [[Sublime]]ly [[wonderful]] [[Precious Wheel]]s, [[multitude]]s of [[Jewel]]ed [[flower]]s, and [[immaculate]] [[Mani Gem]]s. An ocean of various [[color]]s and [[form]]s [[appear]]ed in [[boundless]] [[manifestation]]s. [[Banner]]s made of [[Mani Gem]]s constantly poured forth [[bright light]] and [[wondrous]] [[sound]]s. [[Jeweled Net]]s and exquisitely [[fragrant]] [[flower]]s were [[garland]]ed all about. Regal [[Mani Gem]]s wrought [[transformation]]s with ease, endlessly [[rain]]ing down [[Treasure]]s and [[multitude]]s of [[wondrous]] [[flower]]s, which [[scatter]]ed and fell to the [[earth]]. [[Jewel]]ed [[tree]]s were lined up neatly, their [[branches]] and [[foliage]] [[verdant]] and luxuriant. It was due to the [[Buddha]]’s [[spiritual power]] ([[Siddhi) that all such [[adornment]]s [[manifest]]ed within the [[Bodhimanda]].
 +
+The [[Bodhi Tree]] was tall, [[extraordinary]], and [[rare]]. Its [[root]]s were made of [[Vajra]], its trunk of [[Beryl]], and its [[branches]] and [[twig]]s of an assortment of [[wondrous]] [[Jewel]]s. Its [[Jewel]]ed [[foliage]] [[create]]d a thick [[arbor]], providing shade like a bank of [[cloud]]s. Multi-[[color]]ed [[Jewel]]ed [[blossom]]s and their [[branches]] sprinkled shadows everywhere. Moreover, [[fruit]]s made of [[Mani Gem]]s blazing with dazzling [[light]] were interspersed among the [[blossom]]s. From all around the [[Bodhi Tree]], [[bright light]] poured forth. Within that [[light]] fell a [[rain]] of [[Mani Gem]]s and within those [[Mani]] [[Jewel]]s, [[Bodhisattvas]] profuse as [[cloud]]s [[simultaneous]]ly [[appear]]ed. Moreover, due to the [[Thus Come One]]’s ([[Tathagata]]) [[awesome]] [[spiritual power]] ([[Siddhi]]s), the [[Bodhi Tree]] issued constant and [[wondrous]] [[sound]]s, proclaiming [[dharmas]] without end.
 +
+In the [[Palace]] of the [[Thus Come One]], towers and [[pavilion]]s that were [[vast]], [[magnificent]], and [[adorned]] pervaded the [[ten directions]]. Fashioned of [[Mani Gem]]s, they were multi-hued and enhanced by various intertwining and [[Jewel]]ed [[blossom]]s. From all [[adornment]]s therein, [[light]] poured forth like [[cloud]]s, [[form]]ing [[banner]]s of overlapping [[reflection]]s in the galleries of the [[Palace]]. Innumerable [[Bodhisattvas]] and all the assemblies in their [[Bodhimanda]]s gathered there together, issuing the [[light]] of all [[Buddhas]] and [[inconceivable]] [[sound]]s. Regal [[Mani Gem]]s accentuated lace-like [[net]]s. All these [[state]]s [[appear]]ed from within the [[Bodhimanda]] due to the [[effort]]less [[spiritual power]] ([[Siddhi]]) of the [[Thus Come One]]. [[Image]]s of the [[dwelling]] places and [[abode]]s of all [[beings]] also [[appear]]ed therein.
