 +Formula information
+The database of over 250 formulas includes the following data: common English name, relative importance, Mandarin name, primary category, secondary categories, functions (actions), ingredients and dosages, cautions and toxicity, preparation, and misc. notes.
+The formula records are organized by primary category according to the traditional Chinese classification system, as well as by alphabetical indices by Mandarin and by common English name. While there are thousands of formulas listed in traditional compilations, formulas included in this database meet one of two criteria: (1) they are in common usage in modern times; (2) they have historical importance though they might not be in common usage today because of toxicity or other reasons.
+Formulas listed under their primary category may be preceded by 0 to 3 asterisks (***, **, *, or nothing) denoting relative importance. Triple-starred formulas are the most important, so the beginning student should learn these first. Formulas preceded by "(AVOID)" contain toxic or poisonous ingredients and are best avoided. They are included for historical reasons, and because one will see references to them in the classical TCM literature.
